Tenor saxophonist Dean Jennings graduated from North Texas State and played jazz around the San Francisco area. Vocalist/percussionist Kent Persons has been a mainstay around the Boise area for many years with groups including $oul Purpose, 5 Gears In Reverse and Lori B! He's also served as a back-up vocalist for Steve Miller. Syracuse, NY native lead vocalist Christian Koppenhafer played with various New York bands before moving to Boise where he has fronted $oul Purpose, Pop Cult Kids and The Deep Down Trauma Hounds. He leads the Boise Modern Jazz Orchestra. With Ken and the Hoochie Coochie Men he backed up artists including Coco Montoya, Billy Boy Arnold, Michelle Willson, Pinetop Perkins and Carey Bell at Boise's legendary Blues Bouquet.īaritone saxophonist Sandon Mayhew leads the PHANTASMAGORIA horn section and for years was Professor of Music at Boise State University. Guitarist Mike Trail is an Idaho native and played with John Nemeth. Hammond organist/pianist Ken Harris played for many years in the Boston area and also toured with Junior Walker and the All Stars, Chuck Berry, Luther "Guitar Junior" Johnson and Johnny Adams. The band has performed at The Boise Music Festival, The Mountain Home Arts Council Thursday Night Series, The Boise Blues Society Sunday Blues, The Knitting Factory and The Reef. PHANTASMAGORIA's first release, "Call Of The Wild," was recorded at Cunningham Audio and immediately garnered airplay on KBSU-FM. PHANTASMAGORIA was hatched in early 2011 in Boise, Idaho to combine elements of Funk, Soul, Rock, Blues and Jazz into a 12-piece horn band.
